Location: Auburn, AL
Leads congregation in vibrant worship services, making the gospel relevant to people’s lives through clarity in preaching and communicating a comprehensive understanding of the Bible and Christian theology.
Strives to develop preaching and teaching methods that inspire and challenge spiritual growth of the congregation with the capacity to make the gospel attractive to visitors.
Sets the vision and direction for the church along with the deacon board.
Systematically trains disciples and equips leaders for ministry through personal modeling, mentoring, and church programs.
Conducts new membership classes, weddings, funerals, baptisms, & baby dedications.
Visits people in the midst of crises (death, sickness, trauma or other significant events) where pastoral care is required, demonstrating warmth, openness, and sensitivity to the needs of those involved.
Creates goal ownership and a sense of shared purpose among the laity through leading by example, involving others in the decision-making process, and actively participating in meetings and events.
Counsels those in spiritual need and comforts bereaved, assisting persons facing problems or decisions.
Oversees all religious education programs to ensure programs and curriculum are in keeping with the overall goals and philosophy of this church. Leads the church in efforts to target and win the lost and unchurched. Also supports national and world missions.
Guides the church members to responsible Biblical giving through stewardship development.
Leads visitation program-implementing comprehensive program to visit current, prospective and homebound members.

Education and/or experience – Seminary Masters degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Communicate clearly.
Reasoning ability – possesses a mind that is open to new ideas- is willing to give them fair trial, adjusts to new situations, seeks new ideas, opportunities for change, is flexible and adaptable. Uses sound judgement. Accurately assesses probable consequences of actions for self and groups, has the ability to make solid decisions based on assessment of facts.
Other skills & abilities – exhibits a passion for God and a Christ-like spirit. These qualities will be evidenced in his personal life, his family relationships, and his ministry. He nurtures his inner self through a disciplined life of daily fellowship with God in prayer and Bible Study.
Must have the capacity to envision the future and its possibilities and possesses the leadership skills necessary to lead staff, boards and the church at large.
Must be flexible, friendly, approachable and honest. Deals with conflict directly, openly, honestly, and graciously.
Must be a “team player” who knows how to surround himself with strong leaders whose gifts augment his own and he allows them the freedom to exercise their gifts.
Must be able to communicate and establish effective working relationships with many different people. The ability to work under stress and cope with multiple and varied issues is important.
Must possess solid time management skills and organizational abilities. The ability to coordinate several activities at once and to quickly analyze and resolve specific problems is vital.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The building is multi level with several sets of stairs, but is handicap assessable. It is a non-smoking environment.
